Kenya - First Time Undergraduate HELB Loan Application |
helb 2016/2017 1st application disbursement - Introduction
The Government of Kenya, through the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB), provides financial assistance to Kenyan students who have achieved annually predetermined cut-off points at the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education for University entrance.
The purpose of the Higher Education Loans Board of Kenya (HELB) is to help those looking to attend college or university, by providing financing in the form of affordable loans and scholarships.
These loans are for Kenyan students joining public or private universities within the East African Community directly from high school either through the former Joint Admissions Board (JAB) now Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) or as self-sponsored.
Eligibility
Admission through Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS)(former JAB)
Unemployed self-sponsored undergraduate students who demonstrate a financial need
All students who have qualified to join universities in Kenya through the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) and self-sponsored students who demonstrate a financial need are qualified to apply for education loans from the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB). The procedure for applying for HELB loans can be brief and exciting if you have all the information required beforehand.
