Permanent Positions


Senior Sales Supervisor, Cheesebrough-Ponds (Kenya) Ltd. 1979-1980.  In this position, I supervised a sales team of eight people.  Responsibilities included developing a marketing strategy to promote company products; researched and analyzed competing products’ share of the market and how to capture that niche: motivated the salesmen and developed a high-performing reliable team.  It was during this period that sales increased almost three-fold.

Management trainee, Ciba Geigy (Kenya) Ltd., 1977-1979.  As a management trainee, I had the opportunity to work in the finance, marketing, and agro-chemical departments.  I had a good grasp of the functions of each of these departments and the overall coordination of the firm’s activities, both internally and regionally.  Kenya was the East and Central Africa regional headquarters for Ciba-Geigy.

On many occasions, Acting Director, Institute for Development Studies - A Research and Teaching Institute of the University of Nairobi.

Director (1995-2000), Environmental Economics Network for Eastern and Southern Africa (EENESA) - A capacity-building organization in fourteen (14) countries, namely: Botswana, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
