Campus News: MMU Students Awarded Scholarship By Russian Varsity

helb beneficiaries mmu of kenya 2016 - National University of Science and Technology (MISIS) in Russia has
awarded eight students from Multimedia University of Kenya’s Engineering Faculty
have been awarded scholarships.

All were fifth year electrical and mechanical engineering. They will be
travelling Russia in October, this year for masters degrees in their respective
engineering fields. They include; Dan Ruiri, Lilian Mua, Duke Omuko, Peter Yegon, Daniel Gombe, Philemon Yegon, Rodgers
Bosire and Edgah Masinde.

The eight brilliant minds were battling for the award in a group of about fifty
competitors in an acute test process which included presentations of academic
projects and written examinations which was held at the Campus late last year.

The MMU Vice Chancellor, Amb. Prof. Festus Kaberia paised the students for
wining an absolutely life changing award, he urged all to become good delegate
for MMU.

“This is a good move for MMU and indeed for Kenya as it is geared towards the
attainment of Vision 2030. Work hard and become good representatives of MMU,”
said the VC.

He asked the eight to be role models to thousands others by giving back to the
university upon their return, citing the joining of MMU’s teaching staff as one
way of doing so. 

Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academic Affairs, Research and Innovation, Prof. Paul
Mbatia who also attended the event echoed VC’s words by acknowledging MISIS for
such an opportunity. He challenged the beneficiaries to carry the MMU flag high
by setting a good example for others.

“Let us hear good things from Russia”, said Prof. Mbatia. “I thank the National
University of Science and Technology for this opportunity and request you
(students) to set the pace for those who follow in your footsteps,” he added.
The eight scholarships awarded on Thursday, 7th April 2016 are as a result
of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between MMU, MISIS, People’s Friendship
University of Russia and the National Research University.

A group of other five students will also join the chain to pursue undergraduate
degrees. This will be the first group to benefit from the program which will
also aid in an Exchange Program for lecturers
