SHOCK:MMU Student Commits Suicide Before Graduation

As 951 graduands converged at Multimedia University of Kenya graduation square for graduation one student from the faculty of Information and Technology (IT) could not bear frustration after missing his name in the Graduation list.


Frankline Awiti committed suicide on Friday a day after he discovered that he was not in the Graduation list.

Reports from several platforms including WhatsApp groups say that Awiti on Thursday met his parents at the city and told them to meet in following day at the campus to celebrate together his efforts, He proceeded for rehearsals where he discovered that he was not among the 951 graduands during the institution’s 3rd graduation ceremony.

On Friday the parents upon arriving at MMU tried reaching him on phone but unsuccessfully.

According to a post in one of the students’ WhatsApp groups is that the student who comes from Kisumu travelled back to home where he committed suicide in one of the hotels despite having told friends that he was going to spend the night in his sister’s home.

Speaking to UpekuziKenya.Co.Ke one of his classmates said that Frank did not attend some classes during his final semester which might have contributed to him not being included in the list.

“The boy looks familiar the parents coincidentally bumped into me at the fameco building near exam office to middle aged gentlemen I was from a luncheon at the hotel accompanied by George but when they called me I left kiongozi George….they paused a polite question…. ”  added one of the MUKSA officials in a post today in the morning.
“We have come for the graduation of a student here but apparently he is not among those in the list of graduants and he is also around he left us for a rehearsal but we can’t trace him now ….he wasn’t at the grounds and he never showed signs of graduating …..what might be the problem…..??” Further read the post.

The student leader continued giving them possible reasons as to why he might have missed his name in the Graduation list.

“1.he either deffered his academic year
2.was discontinued on exam basis
3.expelled on disciplinary issues
4.suspended on disciplinary grounds

I left them and haven’t heard of the story again” Said one of the student leaders.
